What is JCI?

JCI (Junior Chamber International) is a worldwide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs. We are 200,000 active JCI members and millions of JCI alumni participating in projects, meetings, learning programs and events. JCI thrives in more than 6,000 communities located in more than 100 countries throughout the world.

JCI members are 18 to 40-year-old professionals and entrepreneurs who have joined a local JCI chapter. We meet, learn and grow. We create positive change. We train to become better leaders. We organize projects in the areas of Business, Individual, Community, and International Development.

Building local, national and international networks, we draw on the experience of JCI alumni who have succeeded in various facets of life and who provide assistance when required. Representing countless occupations and skills, we are creative, bold leaders who are developing new skills, laying new foundations, and establishing new friendships and networks.

We believe in the advancement of the global community and the creation of positive change by improving ourselves and the world around us. We meet at local, national, and international events to exchange ideas and share best practices. We also learn from dynamic speakers and trainers at interesting and interactive seminars and presentations. We are growing personally and professionally because we are learning by doing, actively organizing projects and activities that benefit our communities and ourselves.

Our Mission

Our mission is to contribute to the advancement of the global community by providing young people the opportunity to develop the leadership skills, social responsibility, entrepreneurship, and fellowship necessary to create positive change.

We carry out our mission by conducting a vast array of projects to increase and sharpen our skills. Our activities, ranging from small local programs to multimillion-dollar international projects, provide opportunities for members to develop and use their skills to help themselves and those around them. Our mission is to improve ourselves by developing our communities and our world.

Founded in 1944 in Mexico City, JCI has spread from the original eight countries to more than 100 countries in more than 6.000 local chapters. We have 36 member countries in Europe, 24 in the Americas, 21 in Africa, and 20 in Asia and the Pacific.

JCI is a truly international organization. We represent most of the world's nationalities, ethnicities and religions, yet we all share a bond of friendship and core beliefs that help us surmount multiple challenges. The 26 members of the current JCI board of directors come from 25 different nations. At JCI's General Assembly, all member countries have a voice and leadership role.

From Osaka, Japan, to Frankfurt, Germany; from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Dakar, Senegal; from New Delhi, India, to Warsaw, Poland, young professionals are joining JCI to network and develop their professional, leadership and business skills.
